The Centre for Settlements Studies conducts research into the human settlements and planning issues with the aim of devising interventions targeted primarily towards addressing the socio-economic and housing needs of the rural and urban poor. To achieve this it focuses on development-oriented research that leads to the formulation of policy guidelines, extension services through demonstration units and problem-solving consultancy.
