The aim of the Institute of Urban Development Studies (IUDS) is to carry out research on issues of development of concern to Ethiopia and Africa, collaborating with partners to produce global knowledge to facilitate the improvement of living conditions and sustainable urban development in Ethiopia. This is achieved by carrying out critical research, undergraduate and postgraduate training and dissemination of research through documentation and participation in conferences, meetings, seminars etc. on urban development issues. Research topics include urban engineering, transport management, climate change in the urban environment and urban planning and development.
